I’m still thinking about the concept of or phrase ‘feels like home’, just pondering what do I feel about this home, what is it I want to convey through the print. As this project requires a series of prints I think that allows for different prints that represent different response to home. As I was considering this I came across an article in a magazine I was given that shed some interesting light.
I mentioned the inspiration for this in the post about experiments in frottage but I wanted to show progress with the idea in separate post as there’s been much development from the initial idea.
Inspired by my research into frottage a technique Max Ernst became well known for, I experimented with making my own ‘rubbings’ of textures and objects around my home. This was in the hope of inspiring ideas or concepts for the combination print of this project.
In my latest report from my tutor he advised looking at Max Ernst Collage’s and I remembered a book that I’d brought recently which mentioned Max Ernst. The book is called ‘Just Draw it!’ and offers an alternative improvement to drawing course. It mention’s Max Ernst’s invention of a technique called “frottage”:
